Last weekend I booked us an old musty room on the main square in Brussels when I saw from reviews that the Hotel St Michel had a nice view. To our surprise, we were fortunate to see a prelude to their Christmas light show from our window. When the light show turns ominous, I added the Bombardment of Brussels by the French from 1695 and other museum pieces. The Grand Place was destroyed, along with a third of the buildings in the city. The reconstruction of the city centre, profoundly changed the appearance of the city and left traces still visible today. I would love to see the final production this Christmas. It's bound to be spectacular!
